PC or Laptop - A laptop does not require a desk with too many slots. A simple flat top desk is sufficient for the purpose. However a desktop computer requires proper slots in the desk to accommodate all the computer parts. Make sure the desk can accommodate additional computer accessories like printer. Less space is needed for an all-in-one printer but more space is needed if the printer and scanner are two separate units. If you use a landline phone or fax machine then the desk should have the space or slot for such a device.
Desks with Superstructure: very popular in Victorian times and earlier. These desks - which take many forms Dickens desks bankers desks roll top desks Carlton House Desks etc - have a raised structure at the back of the desk with drawers small cupboards or pigeon holes for stationery. Many of these desks were designed to stand against a wall and have a relatively plain or even unfinished rear elevation. Some desks have flat writing surfaces some have raised writing slopes with storage underneath - those with the slope are becoming popular again since the slope provides an ideal "work station" for a laptop computer.
L shaped Computer Desk Manufacturers - Many companies are making L shaped desks but some names are far more common. This is a short synopsis of some of the most popular names in L shaped desks.
Desk and Bench: Sometimes used to describe a school desk which has a built-in seat. It is also called a "Desk and stool". Desk on a Chest: An antique portable desk made up of two chests: the bottom one usually has drawers and the top one has a hinged desk surface. Desk on a Frame: An antique form made up of two pieces of furniture: a fairly large and closable portable desk and a stand made of it out of the same material and in the same style.
However such a design is not suitable for desktop computer. If you will be doing your works mostly on a PC that has monitor keyboard mouse and CPU cabinet then you need a desk that can accommodate all these computer items. If you will be doing both paper and computer works on the desk then you need a design that will be suitable for both purposes.
Paperwork or Computer - What type of work you will be doing on your desk? Does your work involve mostly paper works? If so then you need a desk that has lots of space on top of it. You will need to keep different types of files folders documents and other items on top of the desk while working. The length and width of the desk should be right for the purpose. A big advantage with such a desk is that it can be used for laptop as well.
